Gandhiji's approach to democracy

Gandhiji was not a system builder in an academic sense. He was not a political philosopher. For all his sayings were pouring from his deep feelings and sincere realization of the truth and was not committed to any exclusive school of thought.
Gandhiji's approach to politics:
1. No dichotomy: There is no dichotomy in Gandhi's perception. It can be said that Gandhi considered politics as an instrument for the uplift of mankind in social, economic, moral and spiritual spheres, Sarvodaya.
2. Non-violence: It is satyagraha against wickedness and hypocrisy. Highest form of moral intervention against falsehood & injustice in public space.
3. Courage: Courage to fight for the right even if it leads to loneliness that leading to taking independent stand against ruler, larger society or leading to sacrifice of one's own life.
Relevance to world democracy:
1. Clear goal for government: No-dichotomy in politics gives a chance to take right stand and action against wrong doers be it corrupt official, government for betterment of society(socio-economic development) and to establish'Rule of Law'.
2. Civic duty: The use of non-violent means to achieve morally endowed ends like demand for justice against irresponsible , unacceptable government e.g. Arab spring, Anna hazar's movement.
3. Remove terrorism: Build a courage to deal with it and there is only way and that is the Gandhian way to practice the universal religion which shall herald an era of peace, tranquility and harmony on earth. So far, the world has seen only the use of physical force and the force of law but Gandhi had carved out the Third Force or the self reliant ' Moral Power' of the people.
After almost 65 years of martyrdom, Gandhi is now more relevant on global level than before. Specially, after 9/11 of 2001, Gandhi is remembered more with reverence than merely casually. He is being recognized as a great leader of action, a Liberator and a Prophet Martyr all over the universe. What is needed at the hour is to implement his deeds, actions and thoughts into practice and thus, his relevance in different fields is unquestionable and unchallengeable.
